Specific Ravens Needs

Well, this is a Ravens centric mock draft website, so I will comment on that a little. I have started to read several national draft magazines, and they have it Wrong. I don't think the Ravens will be drafting OT or QB with the 8th pick of the draft. First QB. If Matt Ryan is there, and it is very doubtful he will be, then the Ravens have a lot to think about. I don't know how they would go, but I don't really think the Ravens have to spend much time wondering what the world would be like if Matt Ryan is there at 8.

Now, onto OT. The Ravens cut Mike Flynn and all rumors have Jonathan Ogden retiring, so people are suggesting that the Ravens go with Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State, at the 8th pick. NO NO NO NO NO!!! Between Adam Terry, Jared Gaither and the collection of interior offensive lineman, the Ravens have a decent, young offensive line. The Ravens offensive line will be addressed in this draft, at least with one pick, and maybe two picks. But they are not going to be spending there first round pick on that need. The needs at Cornerback and Somebody else on the Defensive Line that needs to be double teamed, are much much larger than offensive line.

What I hope happens with the Ravens first day is this. I want them to trade down from 8. Down to maybe 14 to 17. Hopefully this gets them the matching 2nd round pick. (Draft history shows that a trade down like that would gain the 2nd round pick) Then, with the first round pick, take the highest Cornerback on the board. Then, with the first of your second round picks, take a QB from the second tier that Ozzie and Harbaugh like. (Second tier QB's are Chad Henne, Michigan, Andre Woodson, Kentucky, or Joe Flacco, Delaware) Finally, with there 2nd second round draft pick, take best available DT, or DE. This meets all of there needs and allows Ozzie to take best available the entire second day (rounds 3 thru 7)

That is my day's Rant. I thank you. The next mock draft comes out later this week.

Hey John,
do you think the Ravens will make a push for Lito Sheppard, since it sounds like he wants out of Philly and with the Harbough/Eagles ties?

They might. It depends on what the Eagles are asking in return. If they want a mid-range draft pick, like a 4th rounder, then I think the Ravens should think about it. We already don't have our 3rd (Willis) and our 5th (Gaither). I don't think we should give up our 1st or 2nd. In the end, I don't see him coming here. Plus, the Ravens just signed a CB off the Packers roster, Frank Walker.
Thanks for the commment
